Mississippi's history is rich, but it cannot be reduced to "the confederacy." Our county is populated by people who would still be in bondage were it up to the confederacy, and we are beyond tired of seeing this reminder each time we encounter the courthouse. We have been silent on this issue far too long, but today we lift our voices and say in unison, that this statue must come down.
