As undergraduate students at Rice University, we see that students are endangered by the speeding cars as they try and cross Rice Blvd near Entrance 23. Many upperclassmen and graduate students who live in nearby housing, or students who park at the Church take the same dangerous crossing to get to campus. Rarely, do these vehicles slow down or stop for students as they try to cross to campus. The City of Houston has the ability to put a sign or even a proper painted crosswalk near Entrance 23 for the safety of the city’s students and residents. This petition is meant to catch the attention of Houston councilmen and women and Rice University Administration to support us and enact change to make our roads safer for drivers and pedestrians.
