We, the people, living in the communities surrounding Elephant Hill (Monterey Hills, El Sereno, Hillside Village, Rose Hills, University Hills, Montecito Heights, Lincoln Heights, and Highland Park) demand that a fire gate be installed at all the entrances to the hill. There is traffic illegally crossing the hill on a regular basis, which is a fire hazard and has resulted in illegal dumping and the establishment of encampments on city property. We no longer feel safe in our neighborhoods, as this problem persists. Begin with the entrance on Jennings Way which leads to the water tower and continue on from there, until only emergency vehicles have access, which is as it should be. We want to take back our neighborhood to make it safe and clean so that we can enjoy the open space we fought so hard for called Elephant Hill.
