Leverhulme Estates have submitted plans to build 788 houses on 7 Green Belt sites across the Wirral.

260 HOUSES ARE PROPOSED ON GREEN BELT IN GILLS LANE PENSBY – Please Donate to our legal fighting fund

The Planning applications have been submitted, but they have yet to be validated. Only when they have been validated can you object via the Council’s website.

Leverhulmes are trying to get this Planning Permission BEFORE Wirral’s Local Plan is approved. The Council have stated that they want a Brownfield only Local Plan – BUT THE GREENBELT IS NOT SAFE!!

Leverhulmes are trying to get this application in before the Local Plan is signed off - if it is refused , they will appeal and is that is refused they will make small amendments and then resubmit and appeal again. They will also be making representations to the Local Plan Inspector to ensure that Green Belt can be released and therefore planning permission cannot then be refused by the Council.

The (draft) submission Local Plan was voted on and passed by the Council. But that is NOT the FINAL LOCAL PLAN. There is now a period when the public stakeholders and developers can make representations on the "soundness" of the plan. There is then a period of "public examination" and the Local Plan Inspector will hear arguments from all sides.

The Developers will have their legal and planning experts lined up to argue against the councils "no building on green belt "policy. They will argue that there is not enough brownfield to meet the overinflated target of 13000+ homes. They will argue that the brownfield sites are not deliverable or viable. Then the Government appointed Local Plan Inspector, (not the Council) will decide on whether the Local Plan will include green belt release or not.

Do you really think the Developers would be spending all this money on surveyors, planners, designers and PR campaigns if they had no chance of success?

SO HOW CAN YOU HELP TO STOP THEM?

Leverhulme Estates have submitted plans to build on green belt to the Council however, they will have to be validated and only when this happens is it possible to object via the Council's website.

In the meant time sign the petitions – there are several petitions circulating – sign all of them and share them as much as possible!

The WGSA have produced the following petition to submit to the Local Plan Inspector:

Also, please consider donating to the Wirral Green Space Alliance Legal Fighting Fund. LEVERHULMES AND OTHER DEVELOPERS WILL HAVE LARGE POTS OF MONEY TO PAY THEIR LEGAL AND PLANNING EXPERTS. The Wirral Green Space Alliance have been working tirelessly on behalf of the 1000s of Wirral Residents who care about their precious green spaces. WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO HAVE LEGAL AND PLANNING EXPERTS REPRESENTING YOU TO CHALLENG THE DEVELOPERS ON YOUR BEHALF – but legal and planning experts are expensive, so we need your help!

Please donate as little or as much as you can afford.

Thankyou
