Dear Supporters
There will be an Extraordinary Council Meeting on Monday 13th January at 6pm at Wallasey Town Hall. The meeting is open to the public and you do not have to register to attend. Please try to attend. It is important that as many people as possible attend to let the Councillors know that we are watching and listening to what they say.
This 143 hectare Green Belt site could soon have up to 2584 houses built on it, potentially merging Thingwall, Pensby , Heswall and Barnston in to one large urban area.
The Council have stated that they prefer a Brownfield only option in the Local Plan. However they have stated that there is "still considerable work to be done" in finding enough Brownfield sites to satisfy their target of 12000 new homes (despite overwhelming evidence that the target is too high). Currently there is a shortfall of 2444 brownfield site houses to meet the target.
If they are unable to find enough brownfield sites, then Green Belt will have to be released. The recently published Draft Local Plan has identified that one of the options is to release this site from Green Belt to meet the shortfall in one large "single urban extension" - Option 2b.
Other sites across Wirral are also at risk. Please try to attend the meeting on Monday if possible.
