Climate change is the most important issue of our time. Human beings are currently in the process of radically changing the stable, temperate climate on which civilisation has always depended.

The resulting destabilisation of the earth's weather systems could result in a global catastrophe on an unprecedented scale, with disastrous effects persisting for millennia.

It is the duty of all elected representatives to do everything within their power to prevent this from happening. We therefore ask councillors to commit to the following actions:

• To vote in favour of making all motions relating to climate change named votes.
• To vote in favour of committing the council to a net-zero target for the entire county, not just the council estate.
• To vote in favour of the creation of a plan detailing how to make Staffordshire a net-zero county,
and the incorporation of this plan into the councils regular performance review process.
• To vote in favour of policies that measurably reduce emissions within the county.
