Please support a Permanent Memorial for ROGER MILLWARD in Hull.
The Issue
Roger Millward was a truly special Rugby League player and much-loved individual. A true sporting legend. His recent death has been widely acknowledged by RL Supporters, Players, Organisations and Clubs across the world - a wonderful example of the "RL Family" ethos so often illustrated by those involved with this great sport.
Roger's achievements for his clubs and country are well documented, with a long and glittering career at Hull Kingston Rovers as both player and coach, as well as for his country. The latter includes an unforgettable role in Great Britain's last major international success against Australia.
The respect Roger gained throughout his playing career and beyond has been recognised with the wonderful tributes received, from not only fans of Hull KR, but also neighbours and on-field rival Hull FC and their fantastic supporters. This show of admiration and respect from all within the city of Hull is a credit to Rugby League and a lasting legacy Roger would be very proud of.
What better way to commemorate this legacy than with permanent recognition to Roger within the City - a memorial in Roger's honour - befitting this much-loved sporting icon of Hull, as well as the sport of Rugby League itself.
It's wonderful that the Council expressed a desire to provide a fitting tribute. Let's support this by showing our desire for a suitable monument in Hull in Roger's honour, by spreading the word and gathering as many signatures as possible. We can help, with a clear show of support, across the Rugby League family and beyond.
This petition will then be shared with the three Members of Parliament for Hull, the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport and the Leader of Hull City Council.
Please sign and share this petition. In honour of Roger Millward MBE.
