Hate has no home here!

This past week Columbia Heights city council member KT Jacobs signed up on council candidate Justice Spriggs website with the excuse to speak about his  candidacy. She gave him a fake name but her caller idea showed it was her.

KT then went to berate this candidate on many issues. Key point was first his race. She asked his heritage and family background, asking if he was black enough to be able to say he is bi-racial. To quote Justice " ...this past weekend where not only was I attacked on my campaign, qualifications, and ideals, but what disturbed me the most was that this sitting council member questioned me on the legitimacy of my biracial heritage, who of my family members are people of color, if I was “raised in a white household or black household,” and was my ancestry legitimate. They asked me if I was black enough to call myself biracial and questioned me on what percentage minority I was, and after answering told me that could not possibly be accurate." From what I have been told she also had much to say about low income populations as well as immigrants among other things.

The council woman calls back the next day and made up a story claiming that her family member from out of town took it upon herself to steal her phone, filling out the google form on candidates website, responding by text, engaging in a racist phone conversation for 2+ hours while referencing notes the councilwoman had written about Justice, local elected’s and other local issues. 

I grew up in Columbia Heights. This is not someone who represents me, my friends, and my family who live here. What she did to Justice was disgusting and unethical. Please sign this petition to let KT Jacobs know that we demand her immediate resignation! All POC should feel safe in Columbia Heights and deserve to be represented by someone who respects them.
