Cottesloe Councillors: Protect our Green Space and 19 Mature Trees
This petition made change with 1,154 supporters!
Urgent action is needed to save green space adjacent to North Cottesloe Primary School. The school is proposing the construction of a new car park that will destroy a total of 19 mature trees!
The decision to accept or reject this proposal will be made by the Cottesloe Council at the Ordinary Council Meeting this Tuesday 25th July 2017 at 7pm
At the request of the School's Board of Management, the proposed project would cost $1.5million ($500,000 from Department of Education and $1million from Main Roads Western Australia). Railway Street would be realigned and 47 new car bays added.
Of the 19 mature trees that would be destroyed, 9 are Norfolk Island Pines, a food source for the endangered Carnaby’s Cockatoos. Many other beautiful trees and shrubs, some of which were planted last year by students from the school, will also be cleared.
A better plan is needed to preserve the green space, make the area safer for children and save money.
Please sign the petition now to reject this costly plan.
