We've all the seen the videos of the horrendous lines that are wrapping around parking lots, streets, and entire blocks to get into stores such as Costco, Walmart, and everyday grocery stores. People are panicking over COVID-19 (aka - Coronavirus), and stocking up on essentials. This; however, leaves our elderly in a position to either get in line themselves and endure this chaos - often times at the risk of their health and well being. Lines can be HOURS long!

My petition calls for stores to designate special hours for senior citizens to shop for items, AND/OR special lines exclusively for senior citizens, AND/OR continuos monitoring of lines by store employees so that senior citizens are escorted during shopping and check-out to minimize risks to them and expedite their shopping experience. 

This is a time to come together and help those that are most vulnerable. Statistically, senior citizens run a much higher risk of dying or developing complications from the COVID-19 virus; yet, as a society we are leaving them exposed and isolated when all they want and need is the assurance they will have their basic needs met during this pandemic - just like the rest of us! 

While I know that there are other populations that can benefit from such accommodations, this is the one that I'm choosing to focus on for this petition. I encourage companies and individuals; however, to review and reflect on current practices and needs and change what is necessary to help those in need.
