The time is now to step up and take action

Hi friends,

This week, I’d like to shed light on a statement released by Costco on the investor portion of their website in response to mounting pressure regarding their chicken welfare standards. 

• The statement includes no meaningful steps to improve the conditions we all saw from the undercover investigation.
• Costco talks about meeting the standards of the National Chicken Council as something positive, but if you do a little research, you can see that these are the MINIMUM standards that everyone follows, and it’s obvious that they’re not enough.

This statement makes it painfully clear that Costco is trying to deceive its members and investors to keep millions of chickens in cruel, inhumane conditions. If you haven’t taken action yet, the time is now.

• Email Costco’s SVP leadership at bnelson@costco.com, jgaherty@costco.com and tell them you’re not happy that Costco is trying to deceive investors and members with this statement.
• Call Costco’s Corporate Headquarters at 425-313-8100 to say the same thing (about deceiving investors) and ask them to adopt the Better Chicken Commitment. If you do make a call, leave a comment in the petition to tell us how it went!
