Friends,
We’re nearing 15,000 signatures! This is an enormous success, and I appreciate all of your continued support in seeking improved welfare for Costco's chickens. I’ve heard from several people that have reached out to Costco executives that Costco is aware of this petition—and it’s a growing part of their agenda. Let’s keep the momentum going!
That said, there is still work to do. Again, Costco’s general counsel, Greg Sullivan, said the horrifying footage from Costco’s farms depicts “normal and uneventful activity” as detailed in The New York Times article about the investigation. Costco claims commitment “to maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare, humane processes and ethical conduct throughout the supply chain,” but this has yet to be demonstrated.
To continue the momentum, please, please, please, perform one of the following actions:
- Email Costco Leadership about adopting the Better Chicken Commitment. Your email doesn’t need to be long or eloquent to be effective. For example:
Craig,
I just saw this website about you: https://craig-jelinek.com/
I am disappointed by the way in which Costco, one of the largest retailers in the US, treats their chickens. Please use your power as the CEO of Costco to adopt the Better Chicken Commitment. Chickens deserve better. - Follow and share this new Facebook page “Members For a Compassionate Costco” started by another Costco member who cares about animals. They just shared my petition and I’d like to return the favor!
Thank you for the continued support!
