Alex Bernal started this petition to Costco and

I'm very excited to share with you that this is my first online petition. I invite you to join me in making some changes at my local Costco in Burbank! I grew up in the Burbank area, and visiting the local Costco was a weekly family activity since I was a child. Our family would get all our bulk food from Costco and enjoy all the savings that came with having our membership. After 15 years of being a member, I will have to end my membership if Costco in Burbank does not listen to this petition and stop the horrible treatment of animals! I have watched the undercover investigation covered by the New York Times of a farm that supplies Costco, and I'm disgusted by the treatment of animals!

Costco is refusing to adopt the Better Chicken Commitment, by not doing that they are denying basic rights to millions of chickens. Without the Better Chicken Commitment, these chickens will continue to suffer from poor treatment. Here is a list of some of the things these poor chickens must endure in daily life:

They suffer from skin infections because the farms refuse to change the litter between each new batch of chickens.
Chickens bred to grow so large, so fast that their bodies can’t support their weight and they can’t walk because their legs get crushed under their heavy body.
Chickens are unable to see the sun because they are under fluorescent lights their entire lives.
This treatment is animal abuse—and I won’t stand for it and I won't give up! Our community in the valley shouldn’t either and should stand up to this unfair treatment of animals!

If you agree that animals deserve better than to spend their entire lives enduring constant suffering and that consumers deserve transparency from Costco, please join me in urging Costco to adopt meaningful animal welfare standards by signing and sharing this petition.

It’s time to end your support of cruel factory farming practices
