My name is Aniela and I am an 11 year old girl.  I volunteer with the salmon enhancement program every week and I am very devoted to the health of our oceans. When I'm out on the inlet with my hatchery family, I see countless amounts of plastic waste littering the waterways and beaches.

Plastic is a growing issue threatening the health of our oceans. It poisons underwater life and poses a huge threat to the health of our waters. Sea turtles, for example, prey mainly on jellyfish. What do you think a floating plastic bag looks like in the water? Plastic bags are not the only source of plastic pollution though. Anything plastic is also a major threat. By 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. Have you ever looked at the amount of unnecessary plastic packing on many products at Costco? Each roll of toilet paper in a big package is individually wrapped.
