Warning: AVOID TRACKER TARIFFS- Tracker tariffs TRACK the price cap, so they will go up when energy prices rise!
Ofgem's price cap increases tomorrow, but that's not the worst of it. Experts across the sector are predicting a further 25% increase in energy prices from 1 January 2027 due ot the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
THESE INCREASES DO NOT IMPACT FIXED RATE TARIFFS. So, the overwhelming advice from everyone is to move to a fixed rate tariff now.
The links above take you to Uswitch, they have at least two different exclusive deals at the moment, including the cheapest fixed rate tariff in the country with Fuse Energy. This is about £120 cheaper than the new cap coming out tomorrow, but if the cap goes up another 25% in January, you'll be protected and you'll see savings of around £550 per year compared to the price cap!
Please, if you're on a variable tariff (or a tracker, which is basically a variable tariff with a small discount) then move to a fixed rate tariff as soon as possible to protect yourself from this volatile market.
Thanks all,
Richard Winstone
The Regulator Guy.
