Renee Mcnab started this petition to Corrective Services NSW and

In light of the current Covid pandemic in New South Wales prisons I call on the New South Wales government and corrective services Minister and corrective services to release non-violent offenders to reduce the risk of Covid and to start to use the Emergency legislation that was passed in parliament providing corrections commissioners with powers to release some of the states 14,034 prisoners as it was introduced in the wake of the global release of prisoners to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The New South Wales government introduced the COVID-19 legislation amendment act last year in 2020 to address the escalation of COVID-19 cases in the state yet we have seen a massive escalation of Covid cases yet this bill is still not being used or acted on and I call on Corrective services New South Wales to start using it after all that's what it was introduced for.

This is peoples lives we are talking about and they are currently in danger with the current situation and something must be done now!
