Last year we were told that the Attorney General has "no power under the Act” to direct an inquest once a Coroner has made a decision.
So in simple terms, once the Coroner has made their decision the AG cannot direct the Coroner to hold an Inquest.
Today in parliament after a question was put to him about an Inquest into Aishwarya's death he said, "“I cannot direct the coroner, at this stage, to hold that inquest.”
So in simple terms, the Coroner has not made a decision so the AG cannot direct the Coroner to hold an Inquest.
In our case the Coroner had already made her decision, in Aishwarya's case the Coroner has not made her decision.
Does anyone else see the contradiction??
This government has no interest in protecting children, they only have interest in protecting themselves. They proved this again when they voted against an independent inquiry into Aishwarya's death.
