Subject:  Third and Fourth Street Traffic Commission Recommendations  / City Council Meeting on October 6, 2015 at 4:00 pm

We are residents of Coronado. We are experiencing a crisis in our neighborhood east of Orange Avenue. It is a crisis of high speeds and unsafe crossings.  Every day, we witness 40 mph speeds and near misses as pedestrians and vehicles dart across. 

The state highway through the village runs a distance of 1 ½ miles from the toll plaza to the Del.  The mile of Hwy 75 on Orange Avenue includes five marked pedestrian crossings, four of them stoplights. On the half mile east of Orange, however, there are none.

We support the traffic commission’s recommendation to establish a controlled crossing of Third and Fourth Streets east of Orange Avenue.  

As you consider the traffic commission’s recommendations, we ask that improved safety and traffic calming be your paramount concerns.
