Hi All The application will be presented to the Parish Council on Monday 17th July and we will be there to present our views. We REALLY NEED your help to get signatures AND comments on the planning portal. Please can you promote this petition and get your voices heard. We know from previous experience that this developer will go all the way to appeal and we need to make sure we are prepared. This sensitive area needs to be protected and we can't do it without you. THANK YOU The full planning application can be viewed online here: http://planning.cornwall.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=details&keyVal=ORA89WFGHML00 We also have a template letter which you can email to the planning department: planning@cornwall.gov.uk FAO of Aimee Williams. Please quote PA17/05446 REFERENCE PA17/05446 Dear Sir/Madam This latest application must not be viewed in isolation. The developer has previously tried to get permission on the same piece of land. The previous application PA15/06299 was rejected at appeal and the circumstances around this have NOT changed. If granted this would set very strong and dangerous precedents for future developments and would have adverse effects on this area of outstanding natural beauty. I would therefore STRONGLY OBJECT to this application on the following grounds. Visual Impact St Agnes Beacon, Headland and Chapel Porth are covered by many special classifications including: - Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - World Mining Heritage Site - Site of Special Scientific Interest - Coastal Zone - Dark Skies Zone The existing units can be seen from a number of public views (including public footpaths and bridleways) most notably from St Agnes Beacon. The proposed development would be even more obvious. These "homes" would detrimentally affect this area by the gross infilling of a green space previously never built upon (unlike the existing units that were built partially to replace previous existing units), destroy public amenity and have a huge visual impact on the surrounding area. Access & Highways The narrow minor road to Chapel Porth (owed by the National Trust) is busy all year round and the proposed access on the site is not only dangerous but would increase traffic significantly. The proposed new access is on a bend with very limited visibility and would require removal of a large section of Cornish Hedgerow. Residential Amenity There would be a significant increase of sewage production on the site. There are concerns that as an aquifer with high leaching potential is situated beneath the proposed development, contamination may reach a nearby water course, ultimately discharging at Chapel Porth Beach. The development would put pressure on local amenities including sewerage and waste collection; the site is already causing a considerable amount of "light pollution" with lights being left on all night in this registered "Dark Skies" zone. Noise With the scale of the site increasing significantly, associated noise would obviously have an impact on this previously tranquil location. This area needs to be protected. Please REJECT this application. Thank you
