After Hayle, Newquay, St. Ives, Mylor, Padstow, Polperro, St. Mawes, Portloe, Helford, Falmouth, Mevagissey, Flushing and other towns and villages up and down the Duchy’s coast, where once village communities were built on the back of generations of fishing, so the scourge of second/holiday homes leads to ghost villages, with pubs, shops, chapels, business units and village/community halls all too often turned into designer homes, that usually sit vacant for 40 weeks of the year or more.
But at least one Cornish fishing community is taking matters into its own hands to protect itself from the constant threat of these second homes and holiday lets in its village. Cadgwith is a working harbour on the southwest coast, on the Lizard Peninsula close to Kynance Cove, Lizard Point and Ruan Minor.

Separately, can you please also sign this petition (link below), which addresses other issues transforming Cornwall into something most people say they really don’t like:

Whilst we’re on the subject of petitions, please note also that former Formula 1 driver, Derek Warwick has thrown his weight behind the campaign to save the racetrack at St. Day, following dubious behaviour by some on the parish council pushing an agenda that has since been exposed as hugely flawed!

We’ve reported before the growing concerns with Cornwall’s air, as Cornwall Council have declared several AQMAs since 2005, from Re’Druth to Camelford, Truro to Launceston, Gunnislake to Grampound, and from Bodmin to St. Austell.
Well, here’s an article highlighting the dangers of Cornwall Council pursuing its agenda of mass urbanisation at all costs around most Cornish towns, especially between Chiverton Cross & Treliske Hospital, where its flagship white elephant project at Langarth and surrounding farms will initially add some 10,000 cars to our already massively congested Truro Western Corridor, or as the Chief Planning Officer, Phil Mason, himself said in 2018 (describing his own work): “It’s a mess”!
