As if things weren’t bad enough in Cornwall with mass urbanisation of many towns and villages, let alone the vast and hugely expensive taxpayer-funded Langarth development near Treliske, when you stop and look around at the fast-changing physical landscape of Cornwall, far worse is yet to come.

Many developers are taking advantage of favourable planning officers/inspectors combined with the exodus by urban dwellers from English cities, seeking what they perceive as a relatively peaceful and quiet holiday destination in far away Cornwall, to build, build, build away, anywhere, anyhow, anything. This then not only pushes up prices for local youngsters, but simultaneously destroys the Cornish way of life many have ironically come to Cornwall to savour.

Below is a letter from desperate residents near Newquay, crying for help, as ruthless and predatory developers use their industry and council contacts to push decisions their way, despite Covid lockdowns.

Subject: Kingsley Developments Holiday park activity

Hi there,

I don’t know if you were aware of the Kingsley Developments pre-planning application for the largest holiday park in the U.K. (shown on TV in 2019) which was turned down by the council following mass objections from the residents of Quintrell Downs and surrounding areas.
This week, the developers and a car full of other “suits” have been seen lurking around again, and it looks like they’re going to try and rekindle their plans whilst we are all in lockdown. This has got everyone worrying again, as if we don’t have enough to worry about at the moment.
Quintrell Downs is already being destroyed with developments, including one which includes a four-storey block of flats currently under construction in the centre of the village. This ‘development’ site on West Road, is being built on what was an ancient animal watering hole and Bronze Age settlement. Previous planning applications for this site had been turned down, but sadly they managed to slip the plans in, whilst people were objecting to the holiday park in 2019, and it was approved.
We also have the monstrous ‘new town’ of Nansledan looming to the Newquay side of the village.
We really don’t want the developers to get their own way with this massive holiday park and destroy acres of beautiful rolling countryside. There are also not enough roads or infrastructure to cater for the thousands of extra people these developments will bring to our area.
Is there anything you can do to draw attention to this with your members and get behind any future planning objections?
Thank you for listening,

Concerned Quintrell Downs residents

And it’s not just in Qunintrell Downs, as Kingsley has suddenly found an urge to irritate every resident north of the A30, including this one in Cubert:

And if you live in Penryn (new Penvose student village), in Camborne (no new jobs but new shopping centre), in Lelant (large new development), in Falmouth (new luxury apartments at iconic Pendennis Point), in Crantock, Rejerrah and Mitchell (more mass housing), in St. Austell & Bodmin (continuing to add totally disproportionate mass housing developments), in Hayle (the harbour disaster) and on more and more sites, there’s no getting away from this huge toxic concrete catastrophe just getting worse ,around the Duchy. All this carefully orchestrated by the toxic team of Kate Kennally & Phil Mason, each costing local taxpayers over £200,000pa for the privilege; don’t forget, our civil service "experts", of which we have many at Cornwall Council, still managed to spend £20m on external consultants last year, which then begs the question: who needs council officers?!!
