Extracts from damning comments by one supporter calling Cornwall's high tax-paying residents to withhold council taxes:
"The Langarth fiasco continues. I now believe that there needs to be a public enquiry into the degree of collusion between Council officers and the developer INOX. It is clear from testimony that confidential information given to the Council planning department was passed to INOX and furthermore that the Council's solicitor assured the Council planning Committee that they were adamant that the section 106 agreements were strong enough to ensure INOX would meet its obligations. It has not. And this is why the leader of the Council, Adam Paynter, is urging the council to spend millions on subsidising INOX. Take, for example, the case of the Northern Access road, necessary to relieve the traffic pressure on the congested A390 from the houses and Stadium developments at Langarth. INOX is legally bound to pay two thirds of the cost of several million pounds. It has baulked at doing it. Now the Council is considering giving a grant of millions of pounds for the road. How important is this road? The Stadium for Cornwall project claims that there will be no extra traffic congestion from the Stadium because of the new road, But this has not been built and the Stadium are seeking at least £6 million from the Council to go ahead for the 2019 season and by their own admission this will lead to extra traffic congestion unless somebody (the rate payer) stumps up for the new road too. Why did the Council's solicitor defend INOX before the planning committee vote on the new houses and say they were sure INOX would build this road and all the other section 106 agreements? This whole Langarth issue needs examining as the councillors have been misled, lied to and the people of Cornwall are looking set to fund the bill through their council tax. Don't pay it."
Other supporters added:
"I have to agree with this petition. To look at Cornwall today is heartbreaking. It's open season for developers!"
"It appears the CC planning officers and their boss, are more interested meeting Westminster's 'national' targets than trying to ease Cornwall's localised housing issues."
"I would have thought a better, and more central place should be St. Austell, it would bring much needed employment to the Area. Camborne has had money spent on development; it's now time you councillors started to spend some on St. Austell, as it has one of the largest populations for a town. We missed out on a town redevelopment and the out-of-town shopping that was promised. The stadium could be built on the land that was earmarked for this supposed out of town development."

Following Saturday's conference in Scorrier, to discuss current planning failures and hyper-development in the Duchy, here is the report from one attendee:
"C4C - CoVoC Conference a resounding success!
An excellent conference was organised on Saturday 10th March, 2018 at Crossroads, Scorrier, Redruth organised by Cornwall4Change and Community Voice On Planning (CoVoC).
Extremely well attended including by many KMTU members, the room was crowded with scores of those concerned at the amount of house building going on in Cornwall which is destroying all that is held dear.
Cwll Cllrs Loveday Jenkin and Rob Nolan were present in the audience along with dozens of town and parish councillors.
Engaging speakers comprised: local Cllr Paul Dyer, Cheryl Tyler Chair CoVoP, Justin Hacque Chair CPRE South Hams, Jenny Unsworth Secretary CoVoP and other activists including a retired Circuit Judge.
Although non political party, the conference had attendees from several local and national political parties as well as many with no affiliation.
All asked just where were Cornwall's MPs in this crisis of overbuilding, and why 'blow in' Planning Inspectors from Bristol were trampling over local aspirations and concerns?
The conference heard there is NO need for extra housing in Cornwall, so much stands empty and new development is a money making racket lining the pockets of developers and many in Government who are in the pay of developers. Just where are the services and extra jobs, was a common cry?
Many reported new homes as being substandard and unfit and people are being financially conned with many unable to sell on appallingly constructed properties.
There was huge Cornwall is being slowly made less democratic with forced reductions of Councillors to the lowest levels every leaving civil servants and unelected quangoes to run amok. 'Devonwall', the reduction of MPs was roundly condemned by many.
The Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Sajid Javid MP was called arrogant, autocratic and power hungry and as detesting real Cornish aspirations.
Local Enterprise Partnerships were criticised for being undemocratic and generally out of touch.
Many condemned Neighbourhood Plans as being a waste of time and toothless.
The resounding message from the conference was that there needs to be a three pronged assault:
The first being contacting Councillors to voice your concerns regarding planning
Secondly, contacting MP's to make your views known
Thirdly, the need to combine forces to campaign against the National Policy Planning Framework
All were reminded that we pay the wages of Cornwall Councillors and MP's and we will be heard. Failure to respond to communications an ever growing problem reported by many present must be referred to the appropriate ombudsman.
