I have glimpsed the 852 pages of the Cabinet agenda for l5th November. I see that the proposed £600million borrowing has now become "Investing in Cornwall"! Apparently only £80million is being requested to "Invest in Cornwall" at the meeting on Wednesday - I suppose the rest will follow piece meal - no doubt an agreement “in principle” to enable the “go ahead”. The Agenda is ridiculously long and some items seem to be “clumped” together. It is apparently scheduled to last all day but like others, I cannot stay there all day. However, there needs to be a presence - It is impossible to gauge the timing of the items because it seems that there are going to be a good number of elected councillors present and they will probably delay progress by asking questions. Have you all seen the report in the WMN re. Persimmon in Launceston??? … the houses being advertised as holiday homes. I expect some of you have already been in touch with the objectors - if not I think you should do so. Persimmon will probably try and do the same thing in Truro. I have already heard that they are finding it difficult to “shift” the 4/5 bedroom houses and the flats, and so they want to build 2/3 bedroom houses instead. They are also submitting a further planning application for Tolgarrick (Arch Hill, Truro) to enable them to build further down the site abutting Nansavallon (The Blanche lands, going back to the time of Tristran and Iseolt), despite this being a flood plain! I still think we need to find out how much CC is receiving annually by way of the New Homes Bonus and the Growth Fund Money. Where is LEP and CALC in all of this? The next bit of news gleaned from the WMN today is that David Cameron has paid £2million for a holiday home in North Cornwall, overlooking the sea, because he “loves Cornwall”!" English civil servants who are hostile to the Cornish movement are deeply embedded within Lys Kernow, while the current nasty ''Mekon'' makes the bungling Prescott seem like a fluffy housecat. However, the Mekon has power without moral authority and is vulnerable, as a throwaway remark I made online (which proves we are watched) did sting him, as he admitted at Kingsley Village. It gave me great satisfaction to say ''MIinister, welcome to Cornwall - I am happy to claim ownership of that statement''. He is no fool, but he is a former banker who has extensive knowledge but lacks wisdom, and hates being reminded of that fact. The greatest enemies within Cornwall are Tremough Campus, working with the monumentally ineffectual LEP, with a mutually vested interest to portray Cornwall as poorer than it is, to keep their wasteful funding streams gushing. Locally, the call to remove Chief Planner Mason now has real traction. If a senior Cornwall Council officer can be brought down, that is a powerful message via a tactic they have not previously encountered from the Cornish movement. All is not lost and there is everything to play for, as Dear Ol Adam Paynter must be realising after Simon Parker's incisive bit of satire proved in Friday's Western Morning News. It is so very easy to get egg on your face if you take us Cornish for granted."
