We Need your Support in saving the oldest purpose built hotel in Pentire!

With your support of this petition, you can help us acquire the Fistral Bay Hotel.

Our mission is to restore and renovate this beautiful historic building and to see it once again become one of Newquay's foremost luxury hotels. 

The original developers 'Penpol' went bankrupt in 2008 since then the hotel has be subject to many failed planning applications by property developers and today the hotel has still been left in a very poor state in Pentire for such a long time.

Since late last year, local resident  and businessman Mr Walker became interested in acquiring the hotel. Early this year a legal challenge commenced and has been moving forward to prevent the hotel in Newquay from being  demolished  and to quash the developers plans for several block of flats. The businessman says he is genuinely sorry that the legal action has become necessary to prevent what he describes as "an unnecessary, undesirable and unwanted atflitture at this beautiful location"
Mr Walker also saying, "Pentire is being ruined by over development without providing any affordable homes, for local residents."

When Looking at recent photos and videos of the hotel, It clearly demonstrates that the Hotel’s condition is far better than expected after 90 years, and over a decade of neglect. Much of the original features and architecture still remains. The Developers saying that the Fistral Bay Hotel is in such a perilous condition as to render the proposed refurbishment too problematic or challenging. Clearly they are not acquainted with the modern construction techniques utilised for the sympathetic restoration and renovation of many listed buildings. We would be delighted to purchase the building, to have the opportunity of lovingly restoring it to a high class boutique hotel, this would make it as one of the most iconic and beautiful hotel in Newquay. Mr Walker is planning to spend a least 10 million for the restoration.  In these challenging times, the restored Fistral Bay Hotel would bring much needed employment to the town as well as enhancing Newquay’s hospitality industry. ❤️   

We are tired of developers making their profits at the expense of Newquay residents , whom merely want affordable housing and employment. Cornwall Council represents us and not developers from London such as Acorn Blue.

Please demonstrate your opposition to the loss of the Fistral Bay Hotel and tell Cornwall Council’s Planning Director what you think. CC represents us and they need to remember whom they owe their responsibilities to! Also please write to the Newquay Voice, Cornwall Live, and our MP. We must be so vocal in our protests that we can no longer be ignored and the Hotel can be saved for all of us and future generations and we can give jobs to Newquay residents rather than a bigger pension pot to the Chairman of Acorn Blue.
