Coillte: Stop felling of woodland in Garryduff Woods

Coillte has applied to the Department of Agriculture under the Forestry Act for a forest road licence, to create a wider 360m long road within the heart of the woods known locally as Garryduff woods.

This mixed woodland area is of great importance as it supports biodiversity and wildlife, most notably the red squirrel whose habitat will likely be impacted by this felling. If felling and road works go ahead, the area will be temporarily closed off to the public for health and safety measures.

With both social and environmental value, we are calling on Coillte and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine to reconsider these plans and stop the felling of trees in the Garryduff Woods.
