Corey Deserves Justice: End the Cover-Up and Hold the School Responsible!

The Issue

On September 10, my son, Corey Hawkins, a nonverbal autistic child, returned home from school with a serious and visible burn injury that has left a permanent scar. This incident has shaken our family to the core, and what is even more troubling is the absence of accountability or explanation from the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District.

Despite multiple contacts with the school's administration, including the principal, Corey's teacher, and his one-on-one aide, we have received no information on how this injury occurred. This lack of transparency and communication is unacceptable.

No child should ever return home from school with injuries their caregivers cannot explain, especially a child like Corey, who cannot voice his pain or recount what happened. It is vital that we demand accountability from those responsible for the care and education of our children.

We are calling on the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District Board of Education to take immediate action. We demand a thorough investigation into this incident to determine how and why Corey was injured and to ensure this never happens again to another child.

Moreover, we request measures for improved safety and accountability, including mandatory training for staff working with special needs students, transparent reporting protocols, and regular updates to parents on safety procedures and incidents.

Please join us in urging the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District to act. Let your voice be heard and stand with us for justice and safety for Corey and all students in our schools. Sign this petition to demand accountability and ensure a safe and transparent environment for all children.
