Sheila Mayes started this petition to CoreCivic

"Although prisoners do not have full constitutional rights, they are protected by the Eighth Amendment's prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment. ... Prisoners also have rights to speech and religion, to the extent these rights do not interfere with their status as inmates." (www.law.cornell.edu)

With this being said, if prisoners are being starved they have the right to speak out about it.

Prisoners at Trousdale Turner Correctional Center (TTCC) are being starved. The food was not so great before this COVID-19 pandemic, but now it is much worse. The most frequent complaint was portion sizes. The portions were very small. TTCC is a privately run state prison, ran by CoreCivic. Hence, they are cutting corners anyway they can, food, staffing, etc.

As of today, prisoners are being served 3 bags in the morning. One is a breakfast bag, one is for lunch (a bologna sandwich and a bag of chips) and the other is for dinner (also a bologna sandwich and a bag of chips). Some of these men are quite large and their nutritional needs are certainly not being met.

Prisoners committed a crime, some worse offenses than others, but most of them have a family on the outside who love them and would like to someday see them again. Starving someone is cruel and unusual punishment. It is against the eight amendment.

Please help put a STOP to this NOW and sign this petition. Prisoners have a right to proper nutrition.

Please share... and thank you in advance!
