My insurance has denied my child coverage for Cochlear Implants so that he can hear for the first time in his life . He is now 10 years old and has been approved by his Dr. ( Dr.Wendell Todd) at the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Ga. The language in the insurance companies bylaws state they won't enhance hearing. This is unfair to my child whom has had Four different surgeries to correct the condition of hydrocephalus. The Cochlear Implants would give my child a better chance to succeed in life . Being deaf limits his options for a career, being deaf keeps him in a state of being unsafe in life not hearing oncoming cars blowing their horns.Beng able to hear will help him communicate by helping his speech because not everyone knows sign language.
