Dear Supporters, We request you to sign this Online Petition to release Piyush & his two friends Karthik and Sivamuthu who have been arrested under Non Bailable offense for questioning the authorities as a responsible citizen. Incident leading to Arrest: The construction of a proposed flyover over Mulluvadi gate with no legal acquisition is to cause major set back for the local residents. The District Corporation of Salem, has neither acquired lands for the same nor made a temporary pathway for the residents to commute during the construction. We understand that the people weren't intimated in prior regarding the construction. It was based on this that Piyush Manush, Karthik and Muthu of Salem's Citizen Forum resorted for explanation to the authorities. We would like to bring to your notice that none of them own any vested interest in Mulvaadi. This was an act of Public Interest only. Our authorities have unleashed tyranny by arresting them under Non Bailable sections, which is highly inappropriate. What Team requested to Authorities:Salem Citizen's Forum were demanding the district authorities to acquire the land from private property owners lawfully before allowing the Southern Railways to construct an elevated bridge over the Mulluvadi Gate Railway crossing. The railways usually constructs only the overbridge over the track -- a concrete platform standing on two pillars all within the railway land. The Highways Department would need to construct the slopes leading up and down from the platform. The acquisition of land for constructing the up-down platform has not been completed. Salem Citizens Forum has been insisting for four years that this should be done before the traffic is disrupted for the sake of construction. Failure to do so has not only disrupted the traffic and made bad things worse, but has also left the project stranded. In two other locations in Salem, similar structures put up by the Railways is lying unused as the failure of Highways Department to acquire lands has meant that the structure remains unconnected to the road.
