The Issue

We are Coppell ISD parents and students - and we are asking the Board of Trustees to take one important step: Commission a feasibility study for a dedicated indoor aquatic center.

The window is now.

Coppell ISD is actively engaged in bond planning discussions. This is the moment to ensure an aquatic facility is seriously evaluated - not set aside for another decade. At a recent bond steering committee meeting, more than 50% of participants voted in support of an aquatic center. The community has already spoken. We need the Board to listen.

Our students have waited long enough.

For years, Coppell ISD swimmers and divers have trained and competed without a facility to call their own. They rely on outside venues - borrowing pool time, traveling farther, and working around schedules that were never designed with our students in mind. Meanwhile, neighboring districts like Lewisville, Carrollton-Farmers Branch, Grapevine-Colleyville, and Southlake Carroll each have dedicated aquatic facilities serving their students and communities.

Our kids deserve the same.

This is bigger than competitive swimming.

A dedicated aquatic center would serve the entire Coppell community:

Elementary students - water safety, swim instruction, and drowning prevention
Middle schoolers - early access to swimming and diving programs
High schoolers - reliable, year-round training and competition facilities
Families and residents - recreational swimming, fitness, and wellness programs for all ages
Future generations - a lasting community investment in health and education

We are not asking for construction to begin tomorrow.

We understand this requires careful financial planning. Other districts have successfully funded aquatic centers through bond measures and public-private partnerships. A feasibility study would identify realistic costs, funding strategies, and partnership opportunities - so the Board can make an informed decision with full community input.

We are simply asking the Board of Trustees to study it.

Give this idea the serious consideration it deserves. The support is here. The timing is now. Let's make sure Coppell students don't miss another opportunity because we didn't act when we had the chance.

Sign this petition to urge the Coppell ISD Board of Trustees to commission a feasibility study for a dedicated indoor aquatic center.

This is a community-led initiative by Coppell ISD parents and students. It is not an official Coppell ISD petition.
