Coochiemudlo Island: STOP the removal of kayak racks and outrigger from beach

Coochiemudlo Island: STOP the removal of kayak racks and outrigger from beach
The issue
Many locals of Coochiemudlo Island have kayaks stored at the kayak rack on Main Beach, members of the community also participate in healthy outdoors activities such as team paddling in outrigger canoes.
In March, the Redland City Council (RCC) put up signs at the kayak rack on Main Beach and the outrigger storage space on Norfolk Beach stating owners of vessels have until April 30 to remove them or they would be either dumped or impounded and there would be a retrieval fee.
Some time ago, RCC installed the racks on Main Beach, and had also encouraged the activities of the outrigger teams as it's healthy, outdoor exercise that connects community members. The kayak racks were installed so people could store their kayaks safely and have easy access to the beach and water, again, a healthy, outdoor activity.
RCC put up signs to remove the racks without any consultation with the Coochiemudlo Island community.
We, the signatories, ask that RCC show us a clear, transparent process that has led to this decision being made and let us know why there was no consultation.
We request the racks be left where they are, and the outrigger teams be able to keep the canoes in the same spot on Norfolk Beach.
