Over the past few days, I have watched the documentary, The StairCase... in this documentary, Michael Peterson was accused of murdering his wife, Kathleen. From the evidence that was presented (most of which was proven to have been false), he was found guilty, although obviously innocent. He ended up spending 8 years in prison for the crime - which he did not commit - and now has been basically forced to plead "guilty" (using the Alford Plea) because the D.A. was being basically held ransom by Kathleen's sisters and daughter who are convinced, regardless of the evidence or lack thereof, that Michael is guilty.   From my observations, even the judge believes he is innocent.  Because of this whole ordeal, he is broke. I just feel sick to my stomach when I think of how he went through so much and now has to be labeled a murderer because of some people's selfishness.

I have a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice and even I can see that he should have been found innocent of all charges.  This is yet another case where the system has failed miserably!

Please, if anyone deserves to have their sentence commuted, it is Michael Peterson.
