The Issue

Hi, my name is Kenneth Huntley, I have severe hearing loss bordering on profound hearing loss, my hearing loss is a result of my developmental disability, Chromosome 18 Ring. I am a candidate for a Bone Anchored Hearing Aid. This was confirmed by a licensed Otologist and Audiologist at UCSF's Head and Neck Clinic.

Currently in the State of California, only children whom are candidates for BAHAs and/or Cochlear Implants will have their devices and surgery covered by Medi-Cal.

I was told by staff at University of California San Francisco that they have been petitioning the state for years to allow adults with and without disabilities to be covered as well.

I have decided that I want to advocate for myself and other adults with disabilities that are on Medi-Cal, who are candidates for BAHAs and Cochlear Implants; to let the California Department of Health Care Services know that there is a need.

Will you join me in letting the CDHS know that there is a need for Medi-Cal coverage for adults who are being seen by Otologists or Neurotologists and Audiologists, whom have highly recommended that their adult patients be fitted with a BAHA or Cochlear device?
