Pondicherry university is a prestigious University in the beautiful Union territory of Puducherry.

Four medical colleges are affiliated to it namely :

Pondicherry institute of medical sciences.

Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College.

Venkateswara Medical College and research institute.

Indra Gandhi Medical College

As of June 2016 Pondicherry university has cancelled reevaluation option for MBBS exams, this was available for the medical students for several years before it was suddenly cancelled without any particularly good reason. Reevaluation is more of a right than a privilege. It is provided in school public exams (10th, and 12th), nearly every other course in Pondicherry university, and most other Universities in India provide this facility, but it is denied for Medical colleges affiliated to Pondicherry university. This makes life very difficult for medical students studying here, unlike other courses where they have arrear options, if one fails in MBBS he or she has to sit for 6 months in 1st and final years and pass it before going further, even in 2nd and 3rd years if someone fails the second time they have to wait 6 months. This structure makes the MBBS exams much more intense and difficult.

So when a student fails even though he or she had done well in that exam, 6 months of the person's life is ruined, the pressure and depression makes those 6 months enormously difficult to endure. Because of the cancellation of reevaluation the student loses the one hope he or she has to prove the person deserves to pass. Paper evaluation are subjective  procedures, so it is more than fair to ask for the corrections to be reconsidered or evaluated by a second set of eyes before the digits can determine someone's life for the next six months.

Pondicherry university exams corrections are in many ways erratic, there are no proper dates for results to arrive, they take 2-3 months to come out, sometimes even more. One cannot request for Xerox of his or her's evaluated paper if they have doubts about their paper's corrections, and all of the rules keep changing according to the University's convince and students dismay.

So I sincerely ask the medical community to join with us in this petition to request Pondicherry university's controller of examinations and and it's registrar to bring back re evaluation in medical wing of Pondicherry and also to provide transparency in corrections and dates corresponding to results and exams. I have also sought the help of UGC, MCI, Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi and IMA Puducherry to help us solve our problems.
