As the COVID-19-related Public Health Emergency ends, Medicaid, Medicare, and insurances are looking to sunset some of the telehealth flexibilities enacted to allow for patient care during the pandemic.  Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics has integrated telehealth into care models to provide greater access to patients in an already limited access field.  If coverage sunsets for Developmental Testing codes, such as 96110, 96112, 96113, 96116, and 96132, then this potentially decreases access for patients currently and in the future.  Telehealth mitigates travel and finance barriers, which are extremely important for children with special needs.  Telehealth allows for a more accurate representation of the child's home environment and behavior, and this allows for more accurate and appropriate diagnoses and treatment plans.  We view continuing full telehealth coverage for developmental evaluations, treatment, and testing as a disability rights issue, and we ask for continued coverage for these telehealth services.
