Oa's disappearance strikes a chord of fear and empathy within every one of us who battles the waves for our livelihood. No one knows better than us, the unpredictable nature of the sea - a fact echoed by the International Labour Organization's report that indicates fishing as the world's most hazardous trade. We, the seafaring community, stand shoulder to shoulder in this moment of crisis, calling on authorities to extend the search duration beyond the average recovery time for a missing person at sea. We believe in the strength, survival instinct and skill possessed by Oa, derived from years spent at sea. We urge the Coast Guard not to give up on Oa, just as we wouldn’t want them to give up on us.
