At the most recent school board meeting, funding for Mountain Vista Governor's School was questioned. As a current senior there, this poses a serious threat to the availability of academic opportunities in this county. Our education system promises to meet the needs of all students, and while that commitment is often applied to those who need additional support, defunding this program fails to uphold that same principle for gifted students.

Before attending MVGS, including in my base school AP classes, I rarely felt academically challenged. However, once I began attending Mountain Vista, boredom was no longer the defining feature of my school day.

To parents, teachers, and all Fauquier County citizens who want our youth to thrive, I urge you to contact our school board and remind them of the value Mountain Vista Governor's School, and gifted education as a whole, provides to Fauquier County students.
