The minutes of the Parish Council Meeting for May contain the following statements concerning the latest documents on the heritage greenway:

’they are not a commitment to actually create the physical footpath’

’highways are looking into when this will happen’

They are apparently the ‘next step in the SIX YEAR negotiations with the land owners’

Councillor Collins has ‘invited the Executive Member for sustainability to walk the route to ensure she is fully aware and supportive of the project’.

my thoughts on this:

How could the Executive member for sustainability not be aware of a project that is in the local plan?

Why are they even talking about a ‘negotiation’ - Defra should be stepping in to compulsory purchase any obstacles and impediments to the greenway.

I’m sensing what I have always suspected - that the interests of the people of Caddington Woods and surrounding areas are a low priority to the authorities. We need to get sharing and signing and fight for this Greenway. Enough is enough.
