Our communty has a serious safety issue: There are no sidewalks connecting to the shopping center with Giant and LA Fitness, forcing seniors and bus workers to walk along busy roads. This isn't just an inconvenience – it's dangerous.

The numbers back this up. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, pedestrian deaths have jumped from 12% of traffic fatalities in 2009 to 17% in 2019, with 6,205 deaths that year. Senior citizens are particularly vulnerable, accounting for 20% of pedestrian fatalities despite making up a smaller portion of the population.

Every day, elderly residents and transit workers risk their safety just to reach essential services. This isn't acceptable in a developed community. We need sidewalks – it's that simple.
