Construct More Lighted Tennis Courts in Our City

The Issue

I, like many others in Sunnyvale, rely on tennis for relaxation and stress relief amidst the pressures of work and family responsibilities. For our children, it serves as a focus, helping to manage school-related stress. It's not just a game for us—it is a lifestyle, a necessary aspect of our daily lives in the community.

But finding an open court to play on has become increasingly challenging. Our community—children, teenagers, adults, and older adults alike—is robust with tennis enthusiasts. Yet, the lack of adequate court facilities means we're often left driving from one court to another, in hopes of finding a spot, and often returning home frustrated.  It is impossible to get court bookings at Lifetime tennis Sunnyvale even late in the night from 9 to 10 p.m.  It has become way worse after some of the courts were converted to Pickleball courts.  My wife plays pickleball and we love the sport but don't make the tennis courts dual purpose and make finding tennis courts more difficult for us.

Tennis is a widespread sport in our area. Despite its popularity, the city of Sunnyvale has not matched our enthusiasm with enough tennis facilities. I invite the city authorities to speak with parents and older adults around the area and hear their struggles in finding an open court. Their stories will reveal the gravity of this issue and the extent of this public demand. Now is the time for our city to step up, understand our pressing needs, and commit to a constructive endeavor that will greatly enhance our quality of life.

Please sign this petition to ask our city to construct more lighted tennis courts.
