Our town of Edwardsville, IL is home to a vibrant and passionate skateboarding community. Despite our love for the sport and the size of our community, we have never had a safe and dedicated space to practice and enjoy skateboarding. This lack of facilities not only hinders our ability to progress in the sport but also poses safety risks as many are forced to skateboard in unsuitable locations.

The proposed skatepark would be accessible to all age groups and skill levels, fostering inclusivity within our community. It would provide a safe environment for skateboarders while promoting physical activity among residents. According to the Tony Hawk Foundation, communities with public skateparks see an increase in youth engagement and decrease in juvenile crime rates (Tony Hawk Foundation).

Edwardsville deserves a space that caters to its diverse population's interests - including those who love skateboarding. We urge local authorities to consider this proposal seriously for the betterment of our town's recreational offerings.
