The Issue

The residents of the Silverlake neighborhood in Eagle Mountain are facing increasing challenges due to limited roadway access. As our community continues to grow, the need for a more efficient transportation infrastructure becomes crucial. Currently, there is no direct road from Silverlake Parkway to Saratoga Springs, causing unnecessary travel times and congestion on existing routes. The only escape route from Silverlake is through Pony Express which is dangerous.

The construction of a through road would significantly enhance the quality of life for Silverlake residents by reducing commute times, allowing a safer exit during poor weather  and providing better access to essential services, schools, and businesses in Saratoga Springs. Furthermore, it would alleviate traffic congestion on adjacent roads, improve emergency response times, and promote economic vitality by facilitating smoother connectivity between these two thriving communities.

It's important to note that the need for this infrastructural development is backed by compelling statistics: traffic in the Eagle Mountain area has been steadily increasing over the past decade, with notable traffic congestion during peak hours. This not only causes frustration for commuters but also poses safety risks, especially for families traveling with young children. Additionally, our whole community has young children who will soon be drivers and more cars on the road will create an even greater risk.

A proposed through road would be in alignment with city development plans aimed at improving transportation networks and supporting sustainable growth in the region. By signing this petition, we urge local authorities to approve and prioritize the construction of this roughly 450ft of road, allocate necessary funds, and begin the planning and development process to provide the Silverlake community with a direct and functional route to the new High School and Saratoga Springs.

Thank you all GREATLY for taking the time to share your thoughts and keen insights about this road connection. I found the feedback very enlightening and am very grateful for local "eyes" and "ears" to help give us the best information possible. I've read each word of each message that has come to me. We're currently awaiting the results of a 3rd-party safety study of this area as it pertains to roads / traffic, so we can incorporate that into the feedback each of you has given the city council members. Thank you again for your feelings and firsthand experiences regarding how this connection affects your lives. Craig Whiting CITY COUNCIL MEMBER

No decision has been made on this connection to date. I am waiting to see the results of a traffic study that is due to come to the council for review in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned Warmest, Brett Wright CITY COUNCILMEMBER [Note: The Change.org Civic Engagement Team reaches out to decision makers to let them know about petitions in their community and to help facilitate engagement with supporters.
