Construct a Safe, Accessible Road to DPS Whitefield – Our Children Deserve Better!!
The Issue
Petition to the Management of Delhi Public School Whitefield
Address:
Delhi Public School Whitefield
Survey No. 35/1A, Sathnur Village, Bagalur Post, Bengaluru – 562149, Karnataka
Our Request
We, the parents and guardians of students studying at Delhi Public School Whitefield, respectfully urge the school management to take proactive ownership in facilitating the construction of a proper all-weather access road connecting the main road to the school campus.
For years, the existing stretch of road has remained in an unacceptable condition, creating daily hardship for thousands of students, parents, school buses, and staff.
The Current Situation
The road leading from the main road to the school has become a serious concern.
During dry weather, the road is covered with loose dust, creating poor air quality and exposing children, parents, and staff to excessive dust every day.
During the rainy season, the same road turns into a muddy, slippery, and hazardous stretch, making travel difficult and unsafe for school buses, cars, two-wheelers, and pedestrians.
Traffic slows down significantly because vehicles are forced to move cautiously, increasing commute times for everyone.
How This Affects Our Children
This is not merely an inconvenience—it directly impacts the well-being of our children.
Because of the poor road conditions:
- Students spend considerably longer periods inside school buses every day.
- Young children are exposed to dust pollution and uncomfortable travel conditions.
- Longer commute times reduce the time children have for rest, homework, family interaction, and extracurricular activities.
- During monsoons, safety risks increase due to slippery surfaces and poor road conditions.
- Our children deserve a safe, clean, and reliable journey to and from school.
Why We Are Petitioning the School
We understand that the school may not directly own or maintain the public road. However, Delhi Public School Whitefield is the largest stakeholder benefiting from this access road and is in the best position to champion this cause.
As parents, we are not asking the school to build the road independently.
We are asking the school management to take leadership by engaging with the appropriate authorities, including the Gram Panchayat, local elected representatives, and relevant government departments, to ensure that this long-pending issue is addressed through a clear, time-bound action plan.
Keeping this issue on the back burner year after year is no longer acceptable when it affects the daily health, safety, and convenience of hundreds of children.
Our Expectations
We request that the school:
- Officially acknowledge the seriousness of this issue.
- Initiate discussions with the Gram Panchayat and local government authorities responsible for road infrastructure.
- Engage local elected representatives and relevant departments to expedite the construction of a permanent, all-weather road.
- Keep parents informed by sharing progress updates and an action plan.
- Demonstrate visible leadership until the road is completed.
- A Collective Voice for Our Children
This petition is not about assigning blame. It is about collective responsibility.
As parents, we believe that when a school and its community work together, meaningful change is possible. We are ready to support every constructive effort that leads to a permanent solution.
We request the management of Delhi Public School Whitefield to become the driving force behind this initiative and ensure that every child can travel to school safely, comfortably, and with dignity.
"Our children deserve better. The time to act is now."
Please sign this petition to support the construction of a safe, permanent access road to Delhi Public School Whitefield.
