Construct a Paved Asphalt Pump Track in Baldwin Park, Nassau County
The Issue
Lets get a paved pump track built next to Baldwin Park skatepark!! Baldwin Park is the perfect place for a pump track! Please sign this petition to let the town and park officials know you want one!
Being a Long Island resident myself, I see many kids and adults in our community who are deprived of safe spaces to engage in wheeled sports like BMX, MTB, scooter, etc. These sports are more than just a hobby - it’s a passion, lifestyle and culture. And yet, despite the ever-growing interest in recreational wheeled sport activity, our county still lacks the important asset of a safe, designated place where wheeled sport enthusiast can play, socialize and hone their skills. The streets are too dangerous, skateparks are not optimized for all wheeled sports and we're looking for something a little more exciting than a bike path. This is a void that a pump track can fill
A paved asphalt pump track would mean the world to children, teenagers, and adults who are involved in wheeled sports. Imagine Kennedy Park, already a popular destination for skateboarders with its skatepark, being complemented by a pump track which would create a more inclusive space for the rest of the wheeled sport enthusiast that come to the park. Families would be introduced to a new type of playground, and people would have a designated space to build their skills, have fun, and even prepare for potential wheeled sports careers if they want.
HEALTH BENEFITS:
Studies show that providing communal sports facilities can have a remarkable impact on public health and social cohesion. The Health Equity and Active Transportation report states that public investment in active transport resources, such as pump tracks, contributes to a reduction in chronic diseases and improves mental health overall (Health Equity and Active Transportation Report, 2019).
There's plenty of room to fit a pump track right next to the skatepark
We urge the Nassau County authorities to install a paved asphalt pump track in Baldwin Park. Doing so will affirm the county's commitment to enhancing community infrastructure and promoting sport and health for all its residents.

Nassau County, let's make this possibility a reality for our families and future generations. Please, sign this petition today.
