Construct a New Footpath to Kingsway Retail Park to Improve Accessability

The Issue

Kingsway Retail Park currently has 2 entrances. One for cars and a pedestrian footpath that leads to a roundabout. Derby city center and most of the housing in the city is located east of the retail park but for some reason there is no path linking the two together.

This means if you want to visit you either have to walk 20+ mins or drive there which is madness considering the congestion problems they have had over the last few years.

A new footpath either through the park or the adjacent lane leading from Cheviot Street is a win-win for everyone. There would be less traffic, more accessibility, more revenue for businesses, more free parking spaces, an improved environment and reduced emissions.

You could even finance this whole thing by selling / reusing the traffic lights outside the retail park which have been switched off for several years.

I lived in Derby for a couple of months and what should have been a 15 min walk to the retail parked turned into an unnecessary drive due to the inaccessibility.
