Construct a Convenient Skatepark in Downtown Poulsbo

The Issue

My passion for skateboarding runs deep, but the nearest skatepark is an exhaustive three-hour walk from my home in Poulsbo, WA, USA. This absence of a nearby skating facility isn't just my problem. It impacts many enthusiastic skateboarders in our community who are left without a safe and designated space to enjoy and practice our sport. Constructing a skatepark near downtown Poulsbo would serve as a heartening symbol of investment in outdoor activities and youth recreation. According to the Municipal Research and Services Center, skateparks contribute to a healthier, happier community, they give youth a place to go as an alternative to engaging in unsafe, reckless behavior, and could even potentially decrease local crime rates (MRSC, 2013). Therefore, we are urging local authorities to consider the construction of a skatepark in downtown Poulsbo that would not only foster our passion for skateboarding but also bring about positive social and health outcomes. Please sign our petition to support our collective call for a local skatepark.
