The Issue

As an expert BMX rider, I constantly seek enjoyable ways to hone my skills without the time constraints of frequent traveling and being at the track. I've found the ideal solution in a pump track - a continuous circuit of asphalt or concrete rollers and berms that cyclists can use for training or having fun. However, the closest one is situated near Minneapolis, far from reach for many of us. Through this petition, my goal is to establish a new bike pump track near the St. Cloud Skate Park, a location with ample space and accessibility for all riders in the state.

Having a bike pump track in our area will provide not just professional but also amateur riders a place to practice and improve their abilities while enjoying the process. With 47.5 million Americans biking in 2017 itself (Statista, 2017), it is undeniable that biking is not only a professional sport but an enjoyable and healthy hobby for many Americans. Whether one is a professional rider seeking practice or someone looking to indulge in a fitness activity, a local pump track can cater to all needs. Minnesota, with 2.6 million bikers, which makes up nearly 50% of the population, should have more accessible bike pump tracks (Minnesota Department of Transportation, 2016).

By building a bike pump track near the St. Cloud Skate Park, even if it's half the scale of the picture above, we are not only promoting a healthier, more active lifestyle but also ensuring that bike riders of all levels have open access to safe facilities where they can pursue their passion.

Let us rally for the construction of this pump track. Sign the petition. Support the healthy enjoyment and advancement of cyclists in our community.
