To whom it may concern, 

There are approximately 3.5 million Muslims in the United States and we would like to see our two religious holidays made into a federal law. Those holidays are Eid-ul-Fitar & Eid-ul- Adha. 

Eid-ul-Fitar marks the end of our holy month of Ramadan, which is a month of fasting from dawn to dusk (sunset). At which time we celebrate with prayer and festivities, much like Christians celebrate Christmas. 

Eid-ul-Ahda is a time we remember the prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) peace be upon him, and his willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail (Ismael) in an act of obedience to Allah (God). 

These holidays are extremely important to Muslims and our faith. It would be a blessing to celebrate them with our families without worrying about school or work. 

We kindly request these holidays be recognized as federal holidays for the 3.5 million and growing Muslims in the United States.
