After The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones was released and judged harshly by a bunch of misogynistic homophobes, the film didn't make much money and the sequel was put on hold indefinitely. The book series is fantastic and many fans want the world to know that. The film franchise just needs another chance to prove to everyone that it can be one of the greatest fantasy series out there. The themes, the characters, the plot, there are many things that make this series fun, unique and thought provoking. There aren't many popular adaptations out there with compelling villains, racial and cultural diversity, queer characters who aren't there to be stereotypes. The first film didn't white wash characters and isn't racist (unlike other adaptations that have been released lately). The filmmakers respected the original story and brought it to life in the best way they could. City of Bones was fun, dark and exciting. The adaptation did everything right. It sucks for fans, and for the cast and crew, to see their hard work go down the drain because film critcs wrote it off as "a girl who dresses like a hooker kissed someone in a garden so it's just a fetishized Twilight with magic". We, the fans, know that the story is way more than that and believe that this series has the potential to be a huge success. But that will only happen if the franchise is given another chance.
