Consolidate Graduation Ceremony at Ithaca
Consolidate Graduation Ceremony at Ithaca
The Issue
Graduation is a pivotal milestone that marks the transition from one life chapter to another, not just for the students but also for their families and loved ones. Having two different graduation ceremonies breaks up the overall experience for graduates and limits the opportunity for all families to celebrate this achievement equally.
For many families this is not only about their graduate(s) and their immediate friends but also classmate from their early school years and parents who don’t see each other except for major school which we can count on one hand.
Our seniors deserve an inclusive and unified celebration. A consolidated graduation ceremony for the entire senior class will not only honor the achievements of all students together but also foster a stronger sense of community. It will allow every family, regardless of their circumstances, the fair chance to witness their loved one's accomplishment and pride.
Bringing everyone together at a singular, well-planned event will amplify the shared joy and memories of this special day. Venues like the Ithaca High School stadium or Cornell's large auditoriums can accommodate such an event, ensuring every participant has a seat and a shared experience.
Let's come together to streamline the graduation process for our Ithaca seniors. By consolidating the ceremony into one inclusive event, we can create a tradition that truly celebrates the collective success and future of our young graduates.
Join us in urging the Ithaca School District to make this change for the betterment of our community. Sign this petition and support the movement for a consolidated senior graduation ceremony.
